Speechwriter

Executive Bureau

Communications Division

• Research and identify relevant facts and statistics for speeches;

• Coordinate with Bureaus and Divisions to uplift and emphasize the Office’s work in speeches;

• Draft speeches and work with the Attorney General and Communications Director to revise, as needed;

• Assist the Communications Director and Deputy Press Secretaries with op-eds, talking points, and remarks for press conferences, interviews, and public events;

• Assist the Communications Division with written materials and messaging, as needed;

• Attend events at which the Attorney General has a speaking role.

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required;

• Three to four years of experience in speechwriting or writing;

• Excellent writing skills;

• Willingness to learn principal’s voice and adapt writing, as needed;

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure work environment;

• An interest in social justice, journalism, public service, law, or government;

• Solid interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail;

• Candidates should be social media savvy and excited about exploring creative and fun ways to communicate with the public.
